Daddy's Home

Yesterday afternoon I took Dallas to the airport to pick John up. He had been on an extended business trip and we haven't seen him in a while. I got her dressed up in her new outfit and favorite cowgirl hat. She was so excited when she saw him and ran to him screaming DADDY!!!! Then she didn't want to go to bed last night because she was so happy to see him. Mommy got to take a three hour nap today and John got "Daddy Duty"!!!

She's Lovin' the Camera Now!!!

Little Miss "I Don't Want My Picture Taken" actually enjoys it whenever I grab the camera now. These days I find myself yelling "Don't Move Till' I Take a Picture". Good example happened this morning. She came into the computer room with something brown all over her hands and face. I thought to myself, "She's finally learned to dig in her diaper." Upon further inspection I discovered it was coffee grounds. She had gotten into the kitchen trashcan and flung coffee grounds on the kitchen floor and dining room carpet as well as trying to eat some herself!!! She sat nicely for me while I grabbed the camera and started snapping away.

Just a while ago I tried the cowgirl hat on her that I had bought yesterday at Gymbo. Ignore the fact that she still had on her PJ shirt from this morning and the same Hello Kitty bandaid on her leg. She ran around the place and wouldn't take the hat off. This is the same girl who will rip out a hairbow in a second. She loves that hat. She says "MeeMaw" for YeeHaw". Of course the camera came out for this. Enjoy the photos.

No, My Blog Hasn't Been Invaded

That's just me learning new Beta Blogger tricks. I think I changed the format 8 times since last night until I found one I want to work with. Hopefully this will be the final pick. Then I just need to pick all the colors and fonts for it. I'm one of those people who is never satisfied and constantly changes things. I'm always rearranging something in my house!!! I have the cutest pics of Dallas taken over the weekend that I will post later today. She is growing so fast and constantly learning new things.

Two Year Check-Up

Dallas had her 2 year check-up this week. She was pronounced healthy. She now weighs 23.12 lbs. and is 32 inches tall. Her head is still measuring 18 inches(has been since last September). Her pediatrician said she "finally grew into her head"!!! This means that she has gained 4.9 lbs. and grown 5 inches since her medical exam last May in China. She received 4 shots and wasn't too happy about that. She ran a slight fever for several days but is now bouncing off the walls as usual. The last of her 2 year molars are working their way out and I will be so happy when they finally do. She has learned a new word and uses it all the time now "NO". Her speech is the only area where she is still delayed. We are working on that with speech therapy. We don't think she will need physical therapy much longer as she is now climbing the furniture and jumping off!!! Right now she is happily sharing her breakfast with Noelle. Guess I had better go clean up the mess.

Frolicking in the Flowers Part II

These are the color shots from yesterday afternoon. I used my Nikon D40 camera for these. Dallas really enjoys going outside now. Last year she would have nothing to do with grass on her bare feet. Now, she wants to stay outside as much as she can. We should have great weather until June when the humidity will slap you in the face whenever you walk out the door. Noelle was outside running around the yard and Dallas would just laugh in hysterics at times. That is usually when I would get the biggest smiles from Dallas.

Frolicking in the Flowers (b&w)

It was such a beautiful day here today and the yard finally dried from all the rain. I took Dallas out in the front yard and started snapping pictures of her in the flowers, or "mowers" as she calls them. I took both cameras with me. I used my smaller Nikon CoolPix for the b&w shots and the Nikon D40 for the color shots. I am really getting into photography now. Practice makes perfect and Dallas is my perfect little model.

She Loves to Play in Puddles

We have had some crazy weather here lately. I finally let Dallas out into the water puddles today once it quit raining. At first she had her rain boots on. Then, as you will notice, they came off. She had so much fun splashing around. Maybe I will let her play in the mud the next time!!!

Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Girl

Dallas turned TWO today. We actually celebrated it two weeks ago at McDonald's Playland. So she and I just chilled at home today. John is out of town. We started celebrating her birthday at midnight in the Emergency Room while waiting for a CT of her head!!! My brother and I were taking her the eat Chinese food when she decided to try and go out the back door and down the steps by herself. Plunk, Plunk, Plunk , Plunk, SPLAT and then lots of crying. She had a big old knot coming out her forehead in the same spot that she had one in China. For those not familiar with her "Gotcha Day", they handed her to us with a big old goose egg on her forehead. It looked horrible and took about a month to go away. They claimed she got it while trying to walk, but Dallas couldn't sit unassisted or even roll over the day we got her. So, my brother and I took her to the local children's hospital and didn't leave until about 7 hours later!!! The doctor wanted to do a CT scan because of her history of head injury. Try to do a CT scan on a sleepy baby at midnight. Not gonna happen. So I layed her on the table and climbed right up there with her and layed on top of her and held her still!!! Dallas and I went through the CT scanner together head first. It was hilarious. I didn't know what to do so I started singing to her(not loud enough for the technician to hear how bad I sang). Shana, I sang the La Lechuza song to her and it worked because she stopped crying!!! It was the only song I knew the words to. Then I told her they were taking pictures of her pretty head and she gave me a big old smile. I don't think I will ever forget that night for the rest of my life. Right after that it was midnight and I sang Happy Birthday to my dear precious Pumpkin Pie, Sweet Pea, Silly Kitty. Good news is nothing horrible showed up on the CT. I just have to watch her. We didn't get to bed until 2:30 this morning and yes, she is sleeping with me this weekend. The knot is already going down thank God. I will wait until later next week to take her two year pictures though!!! We will celebrate her birthday again tomorrow(Sunday) with my parents, brother and nephew. Happy Birthday Dallas. We love you so very much.
